Project Title | Replacing existing Wastewater Pumps with Smart Pumps for Energy Efficiency, Kyrenia |
Overall Objective | To improve the energy efficiency of the wastewater system in Kyrenia. |
Output | Reduced energy consumption of the wastewater pumping system in Kyrenia by installing smart pumps. |
Location | Kyrenia, Cyprus |
Type of investment | Goods and installation services |
Description of investment |
|
Intended beneficiary | Direct beneficiaries: local community of Kyrenia Indirect beneficiaries: citizens of Kyrenia |
Scope of works | The city of Kyrenia operates 7 sewage pumping stations that serve more than 35,000 people. More than 2,7 million cubic meters of raw sewage is transported each year through the system. Pumping stations consume an estimated 700,000 kWh of electricity per year. Taking into account that the population of Kyrenia is increasing rapidly, there is a need to improve the Kyrenia sewerage pumping system through the introduction of smart pumps operated through an automated system. This will allow a reduction in energy consumption while enabling an increased capacity. |
