Students from the Republic of Moldova, awarded for creativity at a competition dedicated to the topic of energy efficiency

Several teams of students from different educational institutions in the Republic of Moldova, who participated at the contest "Energy efficiency week in my school" were appreciated for their efforts in promoting energy efficiency and renewable energy sources.
The competition was organized in the context of the European Sustainable Energy Week, by the Agency for Energy Efficiency, in partnership with UNDP Moldova, within the programme "Addressing the impacts of the energy crisis in the Republic of Moldova", financed by the European Union.
200 students throughout the country participated in the contest. After a careful evaluation of the submitted works, six educational institutions were designated winners, under two age categories.
Under category I, for children aged between 6 and 10, the following institutions were awarded:
- "Elena Alistar" High School from Chișinău;
- Corjova Gymnasium in Corjova village, Criuleni district;
- Cobusca Nouă Gymnasium in Cobusca Nouă village, Anenii Noi district.
Under category II, dedicated to students aged between 11 and 16, the winners are:
- Doroțcaia High School in Doroțcaia village, Dubăsari district;
- High School for children with visual impairments from Chișinău;
- Cruglic High School in Cruglic village, Criuleni district.
"Today, we are delighted to honor and applaud the outstanding achievements and contributions of students to the field of energy efficiency. Each participant brought creative ideas and solutions to reduce energy consumption in their schools. This deserves to be recognized and appreciated,” said Ion Muntean, director of the Agency for Energy Efficiency.
“I congratulate the young ambassadors of the future for this great achievement in the field of climate change. As you know, saving energy reduces greenhouse gas emissions and this leads to combating climate change. We need more such young ambassadors to achieve climate targets,” said Solomon Ioannou, Programme Officer within the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova.
“Green energy no longer represents the future, but our present. It is gratifying that so many young people participated in the competition are aware of the importance and are active promoters of responsible energy consumption. I thank the teachers for their involvement and encourage them to be active in the future to contribute to the decarbonization target of the economy by 2050,” said Carolina Novac, State Secretary, Ministry of Energy.

By unlocking their potential and by enabling inclusive opportunities, UNDP empowers youth to become architects of a sustainable tomorrow,” said Maria Țarigradean, Programme Analyst, UNDP Moldova.
The winners received diplomas of excellence and special awards to encourage their continued commitment to energy efficiency.
