Bangsamoro Women – Ranao Consultation and Planning Workshop Held by UNDP

Cagayan de Oro City - In partnership with the Bangsamoro Women Commission (BWC) and the Raheemah Peace Weavers, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in the Philippines conducted the Bangsamoro Women – Ranao Consultation and Planning Workshop as a means to strengthen the presence of BWC in Lanao through active engagement with relevant women’s organizations and clarity of programs and services.

The Consultation and Planning Workshop was one of the ways forward identified during the meeting of the Women Insider Mediators – Rapid Action and Mobilization Platform (WIM-RAMP) in Lanao del Sur last December 2021.

The Bangsamoro Women – Ranao Consultation and Planning Workshop provided a platform to identify strategic programs, activities, and strategies through a consultative process among Bangsamoro women of Ranao for 2022-2025. The initiative was also aimed at the creation of the Bangsamoro Women – Ranao Workplan for 2022 that will incorporate priority programs identified during WIM-RAMP Lanao workshop. The workshop also targeted to establish coordination and collaboration mechanism among women stakeholders in Lanao del Sur. 

A total of 43 women representatives from the WIM-RAMP Lanao del Sur, the Bangsamoro Islamic Women Auxiliary Brigade (BIWAB), the Social Welfare Committee of MILF, the Gender and Development (GAD) office, the Bangsamoro Human Rights Commission, the Provincial Local Government of Lanao del Sur, and other women organizations attended the workshop.

The initiative is under the Women Peace and Security (WPS) programme implemented by UNDP is supported by the Embassy of UK in the Philippines, Embassy of the Netherlands in the Philippines, Embassy of Sweden in Manila, and Australia in the Philippines.
