Podgorica, February 7, 2022 - The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) launches the podcast “G SPOT: Overcome yourself“, which deals with gender equality in a different way covering topics and issues that concern not only women but the entire society.

The first episode of the podcast will be premiered on Tuesday, February 8, at 10 pm, on the Second Program of Radio Television of Montenegro (RTCG 2), Krš Student Radio (99MHz), as well as via LIVE stream on the Radio Krš’s Facebook page and UNDP Montenegro’s YouTube channel. Reruns of the show will be available on RTCG 2 and on the Extra TV “on demand“ platform.

Every Tuesday, Marko Savić, a political scientist, will host one of the 12 thematic shows, discussing gender equality with unexpected interlocutors who are known to the Montenegrin public.

We live in a society that appreciates women when they are quiet and obedient, good and caring mothers, wives, daughters and sisters, yet calls them hysterical if they loudly defend their position. We live in a society in which a man is desirable as a descendant and heir, destined for great actions and heroic deeds. At the same time, if he participates in household chores and takes care of children, he is considered less of a man.

We hear these and thousands of other examples every day, we grew up with them and take them for granted. Have we ever wondered what consequences these stereotypes and expectations of “correct“ behavior of men and women bring? Have we ever said to ourselves or to someone else: “Overcome yourself?“ And what would happen if we, as a society, really managed to achieve that?

These and many other questions will be answered by the great guests of the “G-SPOT: Overcome yourself“ podcast, most of whom will speak publicly on these topics for the first time. The podcast “G SPOT: Overcome yourself“ is an opportunity for all of us to ask ourselves what we can do to recognize and together fight against deep-rooted patriarchal attitudes, stereotypes and prejudices about the expected behavior of men and women.
