REFLECTION ON SOCIO-ECONOMIC, POLITICAL AND CULTURAL SETTING WHICH ENABLES SEXISM AND GENDER INEQUALITIES
Gender Week: Marking 16 Days activism campaign
November 27, 2022
The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) opened a dialogue on a range of critical issues concerning the status of women and the obstructive social norms that sustain gender gaps in political, social, economic, and cultural life.
As part of the global campaign "16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence," UNDP organized Gender Equality Week from 28 November to 3 December 2022, aiming to foster meaningful discussion on the multiple dimensions of gender inequality and the societal norms that contribute to it across all areas of life.
The progress that has been made towards gender equality over the past quarter of a century, although slow and incremental, showed that change is possible specially if it comes with joint vision and strategic response of all actors.
Therefore, Gender Equality Week brought together a wide range of partners – the government, international multilateral and bilateral organizations, civil society, and the private sector – to join forces and work collaboratively to strengthen society’s capacity to transform the lives of women, for the benefit of Montenegrin society as a whole.
The events focused on the following thematic areas:
