COOKIES, a “sweet” business that’s growing in Ungheni

October 4, 2023

Denis Tanasciuc from the municipality of Ungheni manages a company specialized in the production of confectionery and pastry products, with the trade name COOKIES. His business was started with money earned at his wedding.

“The business was created in 2015 and the initial investments were the money earned at our wedding. During that time, we had a choice: either to go abroad to work, like most young people, or to do something here at home,” said Denis Tanasciuc.

Finally, the Tanasciuc family decided to stay at home. In 2018, after a period of 16 years, Denis Tanasciuc managed to convince his mother to return home from abroad. Now she is one of the core employees in the business.

“Since we initially had a very small budget, all the equipment and machinery purchased was either second-hand or semi-professional. Thanks to the 'EU4Moldova: Focal Regions' programme, we managed to purchase more machines and equipment needed for our business,” said Denis Tanasciuc.

Therefore, with the support of the “EU4Moldova: Focal Regions” programme, the entrepreneur was able to purchase equipment and several machines necessary for his business: ovens, work tables, freezers, coffee machines and many other utensils necessary for the production process and for the three points of sale.

Denis Tanasciuc is one of 75 entrepreneurs from Cahul and Ungheni regions who benefited from a grant worth 29,690 euros through the “EU4Moldova: Focal Regions” programme, implemented by UNDP and UNICEF.
