June 23, 2025

Sun Dă-i Fest 2025 – the most eco-friendly festival in the Republic of Moldova returned with its ninth edition, dedicated to promoting environmentally friendly technologies, a sustainable lifestyle, and green innovation. The festival took place on 22 June in the “Ștefan cel Mare și Sfânt” Public Garden, bringing together communities, companies, and environmental organizations committed to advancing the green transition, from energy efficiency solutions and photovoltaic panels to innovations and the evolution of electricity meters. Visitors were offered a deeper understanding of how their actions can contribute to a more conscious and responsible way of living.
The event was organized by UNDP Moldova with financial support from Denmark, Italy, the European Union, Norway, and Sweden, in partnership with the Government of the Republic of Moldova.
Visitors enjoyed activities for all ages, from educational games, themed painting workshops, and experiments for children, to practical sessions for adults on making their homes more energy efficient. Over 50 companies and environmental organizations presented their innovations in green energy and sold artisanal products, promoting sustainability and mindful consumption.
"It was a wonderful day for the whole family. The kids were fascinated by the science experiments, learning about energy and sustainability in a fun way, and we, the adults, discovered useful ideas about energy efficiency. Sun Dă-i Fest has become a tradition for us. We return every year and always leave more inspired to live responsibly and in harmony with nature," said Elena.
The festival also featured a Sustainable energy alley where the public could explore innovative green energy solutions. Visitors discovered photovoltaic panels, sustainable technologies, and a bicycle that generates electricity, all designed to reduce environmental impact.
One of the highlights of the technology exhibition was the display of electricity meter evolution, from the oldest household models to today’s modern smart meters. This visual journey helped people understand how digitalization supports more efficient, transparent, and sustainable electricity consumption. Attendees also learned about the benefits of smart devices and how to optimize their electricity use.
"The meter stand really stood out to me. I hadn’t realized how much these devices had changed over time. I’d heard of smart meters before, but today I actually understood how they work. It’s useful to track our energy consumption, to know when we use more, and how we can save," said Victor.
Throughout Sun Dă-i Fest, participants had the chance to learn through practical and interactive experiences how to choose the most suitable energy efficiency measures for their homes, helping them reduce utility bills. After a hands-on demonstration, visitors were invited to test their knowledge about green energy and responsible consumption. The most informed and fastest participants received prizes.
For children, Sun Dă-i Fest was the perfect mix of play and learning. Young visitors enjoyed creative activities like canvas painting, climbing a specially set-up wall, engaging science experiments, and safety drills about electricity. Through curiosity and play, they took their first steps toward understanding the importance of protecting the environment and building a sustainable future.
The festival culminated with a live music concert featuring performances by Natalia Barbu, Mahaya, Dunaff Band, Cristian Porcari, Snails, Dara, and Tania Turtureanu.
"After a day filled with learning about sustainability and green living, it was a joy to gather in front of the stage and celebrate the idea of a greener future," said Vlad.
Sun Dă-i Fest 2025 is a thematic event that promotes green energy, sustainable development, and innovation all in a fun and accessible way for everyone.
