Projects up to 40,000 Euro for refurbishing cultural-historical sites on both banks of the Nistru river

January 23, 2020

The Circus from Chisinau will be renovated according to the international standards with the support provided by the European Union

The European Union will provide up to 40,000 Euro to finance projects for refurbishing cultural-historical sites on both banks of the Nistru river. The respective sites may be historical buildings, monuments, archeological sites, natural objects, etc. – as well as works of art – such as documentaries or motion pictures, photos, pictures, books, collections, etc.

A total of 10 small-scale sites will be selected from the cultural-historical heritage. All of them will be renovated together with the Bender Fortress and Chisinau Circus, for which the process of preparing the refurbishing works has already been launched.

The inhabitants from both banks of the Nistru river are invited to identify cultural patrimony sites located in their communities, in need of conservation/renovation and to share their opinions about the need of such an initiative and its impact on the cultural patrimony, by filling in the participation form by the 31st of January 2020.

This contest of ideas is launched under the component for preserving/renovating cultural patrimony within the EU Confidence Building Measures Programme, implemented by UNDP.

The representatives of the programme will review the proposals submitted during the contest, will organize visits on the site to document the facts and to clarify the potential for renovating the cultural-historical sites. The second stage will for the public to vote and for the experts to decide upon the 10 sites to be selected.
