February 15, 2023

Earlier this year, with the support of UNDP Moldova, 40 members of the ANPM were trained on how to assist refugees.

The National Association of Paralegals of Moldova (ANPM) has launched a new training module for paralegals on the rights of refugees, asylum seekers and host communities. The course can be accessed on the online platform for continuing education for paralegals. The module was developed with the support of the project "Strengthening access to justice through legal empowerment of refugees in Moldova", funded by Sweden through the  UNDP Global Programme for Strengthening the Rule of Law, Human Rights, Justice and Security for Sustainable Peace and Development.

The course explains the asylum seeking procedure, the procedure for granting refugee status, the types of support to which refugees are entitled. It also presents good practices for effective communication with beneficiaries of legal assistance.

The module contains both text-based information and video lessons with lawyers, psychologists, etc. It also includes case studies and bibliographical references.

The platform is open and can be accessed at any time for the professional development of paralegals. For this, each interested person needs to create a user account on https://mlearn.gov.md/. After learning the topics, the user will have the opportunity to test the obtained knowledge. If the user passes te test, the platform will generate a certificate confirming participation in the course.

Earlier this year, with the support of UNDP Moldova, 40 members of the ANPM were trained on how to assist refugees. They strengthened their knowledge about the regime of entry and exit of refugees (from and in) the territory of the Republic of Moldova, how to apply for refugee status in Moldova.

Further, trained paralegals will be able to provide primary legal assistance to refugees hosted in 40 communities in the Republic of Moldova.
