The European Union and UNDP support 30 green entrepreneurial initiatives

UNDP Moldova, as part of the project “Enabling an inclusive green transition in the Republic of Moldova” funded by the European Union, has launched a call for proposals to select 30 sustainable businesses and startups aiming to become more sustainable. 

The companies to be selected through competition will receive equipment and services to support business development and implementation of green and innovative initiatives. Proposals may be submitted in the following categories:

Support for SMEs in the transition to green practices  
  • energy efficiency, including energy audits  
  • renewable energy  
  • cleaner production technologies  
  • waste reduction and circularity  
  • process modernization   
Support for innovative green SMEs 
  • testing and scaling of innovative green solutions  
  • new technologies in green sectors  
  • solutions with market potential  
Support for startups in the circular economy 
  • reuse, repair, eco-design  
  • circular business models  
  • solutions for waste streams (plastics, textiles, e-waste, etc.) 

The selected initiatives will be implemented between July 2026 and August 2027. 

Investment projects need to include a minimum own contribution of 10%, 20%, or 30%, depending on the selected category.

Additionally, entrepreneurs will benefit from individual mentoring and training in areas such as resource efficiency, eco-innovations, ESG principles (environmental, social, and governance), energy efficiency and renewable energy solutions, production optimization and cost reduction, access to green financing, and increasing competitiveness, etc. 

The European Union and UNDP advocate for a green, competitive, and resilient economy by supporting the private sector in adopting green technologies, developing innovative solutions, and promoting circular economy models.
