Grants for Farmers, Cooperatives, and Farmers' Associations

Under the Climate-Smart Matching Grants facility, a component of the Green Agri-food Transformation for Economic Recovery (GATE) project, the Council for Development and Reconstruction (CDR), acting on behalf of the Lebanese Republic, will provide grants to cooperatives, farmers’ associations, and individual farmers. With technical leadership from the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) and the General Directorate of Cooperatives (GDC) and implementation support from the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), these grants will finance climate-smart investments that enhance productivity, strengthen resilience, and improve access to markets. The facility will thereby contribute to the recovery and sustainable transformation of Lebanon’s agricultural sector.

Several calls for grant applications will be launched under this Facility over a 2-year period. This call represents the first round of applications.

Who Can ApplyGrant Amount
CooperativesUSD 10,000 - 35,000
Farmers' AssociationsUSD 10,000 - 35,000

Note on the Selection Process: The selection process will be conducted in two phases:

Pre-selection: Applications will first be screened against the minimum eligibility criteria set out in the Call for Applications. Candidates meeting these minimum requirements will then undergo an environmental and social screening (SESP). Only candidates who satisfy both the eligibility requirements and the applicable environmental and social screening criteria will be pre-selected and invited to participate in the development of Climate-Smart Business Plans, scheduled to take place at the end of November.

Final Selection: Following the development of the Climate-Smart Business Plans, pre-selected candidates will be required to submit their Business Plans. The final selection of beneficiaries to receive the grant will then be made based on the applicable scoring criteria and the assessment of the Business Plans.

Pre-selection does not guarantee final selection or the award of a grant.
