Digital Public Infrastructure
Foundational digital systems that form the backbone of modern societies
UNDP works globally to eradicate poverty, reduce inequalities, and build inclusive, resilient societies. To support these goals, it has established a dedicated team to lead its Digital Public Infrastructure.
UNDP in Latin America and the Caribbean is developing a DPI service offer across governance, human rights, gender, social protection, health, and disaster risk reduction. This includes digital solutions for justice systems, improving legal case management, legal aid access, and transparency. UNDP also supports institutional modernization through digital tools for better policy monitoring and service delivery. In disaster risk reduction, DPI helps reach vulnerable populations with early warnings and response systems. Additionally, georeferenced tools support the design of gender-sensitive care systems, making care work visible and addressing structural gender inequalities.
UNDP is setting up a DPI service offer in partnership with pilot initiatives like the Funding Windows supported by Luxembourg, and ensures that digital transformation is not just about converting existing services into digital formats but about improving them fundamentally. This means rethinking processes to make them more accessible, transparent, and responsive to the needs of all people.
