UNDP supported Kyrgyz entrepreneurs at the Kyrgyzstan-United Arab Emirates Business Forum

On December 13, a Trade and Economic Mission of the Kyrgyz Republic visited Dubai to conduct a business forum with Kyrgyz and Arab entrepreneurs. The business forum was opened by Mr. Aziz Aaliyev, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic, Mr. Zasan Al Hashemi, Vice President for International Cooperation of the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and Mr. Roman Kasymov, Senior Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The main purpose of the mission was to promote domestic products in the Arab market and develop trade, economic and investment cooperation between the Kyrgyz Republic and the United Arab Emirates. Vice-President of Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry for International Cooperation Zassan Al Hashemi addressed the event and encouraged the businessmen to actively cooperate with each other.

The Kyrgyz side prepared a comprehensive presentation on investment opportunities in the country, and major entrepreneurs demonstrated their promising projects. The event concluded with a B2B (Business-To-Business) session during which businessmen of the two countries discussed further cooperation.

"I would like to note that representatives of 40 Kyrgyz companies from different sectors of the economy are taking part in the event. I hope that today's platform will become a basis for strengthening ties of cooperation between businesses of the two states.” said the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic Aziz Aaliyev. He added that the republic is ready to create all conditions for successful cooperation between entrepreneurs of the two countries, including in terms of sustainable development.

The business forum was attended by more than 100 participants working in various economic sectors, including food and light industry, IT, energy and pharmaceuticals.

As a result of the business forum, a number of foreign trade contracts were signed for the supply of meat, honey and dried fruits for a total of $3,200,000.

The contracts were signed between:

- Toro LLC and Bio Agro Meat Trading for the supply of yak meat;

- Dordoi Balykchy LLC and Smart gate food, Trans Emirates Livestock Trading, Etejhat Sale of refrigerated and frozen meat LLC for supply of cattle and small ruminants;

- Nocturne LLC and Jiwar trade EST, Yash Herbs&Honey trading Maysalon for the supply of honey;

- San Planets LLC and the trading company IMXPOWER for the supply of prunes and nuts;

- Aman-Greenfood LLC and Foodya world foodstuff trading LLC for honey.

This initiative takes place within the framework of the UN Development Programme's project "Aid for Trade in Central Asia", with the support of the Government of Finland.
