WHAT:  Mission to the Kyrgyz Republic

Ms. Ivana Živković, U.N. Assistant Secretary-General and UNDP Regional Director for Europe and CIS, sets off on an important mission to the Kyrgyz Republic on 03-06 March 2024. The purpose of her visit is to engage in consultations with the leadership of the Kyrgyz Republic and other key stakeholders, focusing on priority areas for UNDP support to accelerate and integrate solutions for the country to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

During her mission, Ms. Ivana Živković will meet with high-ranking government officials, representatives from international organizations, and civil society entities. Scheduled meetings include discussions with the Chair of the Cabinet of Ministers, Vice Speaker of the Parliament, and Minister of Foreign Affairs. Additionally, Ms. Živković will participate in the presentation of the UNDP Offer for Batken Integrated Development, emphasizing the importance of integrated development approach necessitated by a transformation of the nature of development. Traditional forms of sector-specific development are no longer effective to address the complexity of challenges. Furthermore, the Regional Director will join the discussion on the concept of the Conservation Trust Fund and its potential to provide sustainable financing for critical conservation efforts in the Kyrgyz Republic and explore partnership opportunities to support biodiversity and ecosystem preservation.  

Ms. Živković's itinerary extends to visits to the Osh and Batken provinces, where she will engage in discussions regarding current collaborations and future prospects. These visits will entail meetings with local authorities, partners on the ground, and beneficiaries to observe firsthand the outcomes of UNDP-introduced solutions addressing challenges related to climate change, social cohesion, and economic empowerment.

Ms. Živković will also engage with women leaders in climate and energy, stakeholders from the private sector, development partners, and academia.
