Global Engineer Girls - Kosovo

Project Summary

The project will aim to improve women’s economic empowerment in Kosovo through STEM/Engineering. The project will aim to improve women’s access in the labour market and economy in the STEM fields, by strengthening the eco-system that will motivate and support more women studying and joining STEM/Engineering fields.

The project will initially conduct an assessment on existing needs and opportunities for girls and young women to join STEM that will guide the development of the programme for support from the side of Limak; The project will also create a dialogue with all partners who are tackling the participation of girls and women in STEM and will support networking and promotion of women STEM champions and role models with the intention to improve the opportunities for placement in the labour market in the future.

The project aims to work closely with the Ministry of Education, Science, Technology and Innovation (MESTI), Agency for Gender Equality, Public and Private Universities and the Kosovo Agency of Statistics. The intention of the project will also be to expand the goods practices from Turkiye to Kosovo and start a sustainable movement of empowering women and girls in engineering and widder in STEM fields.


Outputs/Activities

OUTPUT 1. Partnerships and strong coordination on the subject of women and girls in STEM strengthened;
OUTPUT 2. Participation of girls and women in STEM/engineering studies in the University increased;  
OUTPUT 3. Project approach promoted as a good practice for the empowerment of women and girls in STEM/Engineering.

To reach these outputs the overarching activities will be conducted:
• Enable cooperation with MESTI
• Organize roundtables on STEM
• Conduct the assessment on representation of women in STEM
• Facilitate mentorship for the beneficiaries of the GEG programme
