The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Kosovo, in cooperation with the Ministry of Local Government Administration and RIT Kosovo, with financial support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Italy, launched today the Digital Skills for All (DSP4A) trainings.
180 young women and men will benefit from trainings on Mobile Application, Web Development, Data Engineering, Networking, Digital Marketing, and Digital Design. All the trainings will take place at RIT Kosovo (A.U.K) facilities for a period from 3.5 to 5 months.
The event gathered project partners including Maria Suokko, UNDP Resident Representative, Elbert Krasniqi, Minister of Local Government Administration, Ugo Ferrero, Deputy Ambassador of Italy to Kosovo, Kamal Shahrabi, President of RIT Kosovo (A.U.K) trainers, students, and other guests.
In her welcoming remarks, Maria Suokko, UNDP Resident Representative emphasized: “We live in a rapidly changing world. The advancements in artificial intelligence and automation will bring significant changes to the job market, resulting in both job loss and the creation of new jobs. Digital skills are critically needed in this new landscape to respond to emerging needs and priorities. Collaboration among institutions, academia, the private sector, and civil society is crucial for an inclusive, whole-of-society digital transformation. We are proud to launch this joint initiative which will provide an opportunity for digital skills training to 180 young men and women in Kosovo.”
“We support any programme, project or initiative in support of raising the capacities of our institutions in providing future opportunities for young people in the sustainable labour market, thus increasing opportunities for job creation. The important thing is that this initiative will support young men and women in the development of digital skills suitable for the labour market thanks to intensive training”, said Elbert Krasniqi, Minister of Local Government Administration.
“Italy is proudly supporting this programme as part of the new focus of our Government towards the Western Balkans and the economic development of the region. Through the Digital Skills Programme for All (DSP4A) trainings, we count on providing a small contribution for the much-needed inter-ethnic dialogue and the promotion of working opportunities for young generations of Kosovo”, stated Ugo Ferrero, Deputy Ambassador of Italy to Kosovo on this occasion.
“Digital Skills knowledge will increase the employability of the individual, open a wide range of economic opportunities with the growth of e-commerce and digital entrepreneurship, facilitate effective communication and collaboration, and foster innovation and problem-solving abilities. We believe that access to technology education is a fundamental right, and the DS4PA initiative is an important step towards ensuring that everyone has the skills they need to thrive in today's digital world”, said Kamal Shahrabi, President of RIT Kosovo (A.U.K) College.
