December 23, 2024
The COVID-19 pandemic has affected all areas of life. The social distancing, quarantine, and lockdown measures introduced to prevent the virus from spreading, have, in turn, imposed substantial transformations on the level of employment, demand for certain occupations, as well as on people’s working arrangements. Due to changes in the employment structure and the organization of work, the demand for certain skills has changed. All these aspects led to the initiation of research under the aegis of UNDP and JSC Workforce Development Centre (WDC), conducted in 2022 by the Applied Economics Research Centre (AERC). The research focused on defining the most in-demand professional skills in the post-COVID-19 labor market and developing recommendations for short-term study courses on in-demand professional skills (further – Study) for their future designing through the Electronic Labor Exchange portal. The report “In-demand skills in Kazakhstan in the post-COVID-19 era: present and future” reflects the study’s key findings which can be of interest to business, government, experts, and society at large.
