Events like this are particularly valuable, as effective environmental policy relies not only on ambition but also on evidence, analytical capacity, and informed dialogue. UNDP is proud to support Kazakhstan with analytical and technical expertise in developing national strategies and action plans, ensuring that national priorities align with global commitments while remaining fully integrated into the country’s development framework,” said Katarzyna Wawiernia, UNDP Resident Representative in Kazakhstan.

UNDP, in partnership with the Ministry and with support from donors, has contributed to significant progress in the environmental sector. A key milestone has been the adoption of the National Biodiversity Conservation Concept for 2026–2035, which sets national priorities for the protection and sustainable use of flora, fauna, and ecosystems. At the same time, efforts focused on advancing Kazakhstan’s Nationally Determined Contributions 3.0 and National Adaptation Plan, emphasizing the integration of environmental and climate factors into sectoral policies, risk management systems, and investment planning. These initiatives have also shaped national legislation, with ecosystem-based approaches now incorporated in updated Environmental and Forestry Codes.
