UNDP Launches the Youth for Sustainability 2025 Network in Aqaba.

UNDP Jordan

Aqaba, August 23, 2025 – The United Nations Development Programme in Jordan, in collaboration with United Nations Volunteers (UNV) and the Danish-Arab Partnership Programme (DAPP), supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, has launched the Youth4Sustainability (Y4S) Network 2025 Programme. In an interactive workshop, over 15 dedicated Jordanians from Aqaba celebrated their remarkable achievements in becoming sustainability ambassadors.

The Youth for Sustainability Network provide a robust framework for youth-led sustainable practices, equipping participants with the tools to actively shape green growth and climate action within their communities, while connecting them with leading partners in green development.

This year’s porgramme will equip participants with the essential skills, tools, and innovative opportunities to advance climate action, foster green innovation, and strengthen Aqaba’s environmental resilience.

“As young people, we have the power to reshape our communities through digital innovation and climate leadership. Programmes like this equip us with the tools to drive green innovation and create sustainable solutions that directly impact our communities and our future”
Baker Gazo, 2025 Y4S Volunteer.

From now until December, the Youth4Sustainability network will embark on a structured capacity-building programme, comprising knowledge-sharing sessions led by leading experts, decision-makers, and peers. This collaborative platform aims to empower youth to tackle real-world community challenges, co-design practical green solutions, and foster a culture of sustainable innovation. This reinforces the Green Growth and Jobs Accelerator (GGJA) Project’s role in advancing transformative green growth and preparing Jordan’s youth to lead the charge toward a sustainable future.

The workshop introduced solutions aligned with cutting-edge technologies, including problem-solving approaches that utilize Artificial Intelligence (AI). It also aimed to foster collaboration among changemakers against the backdrop of the unique natural beauty of one of Jordan’s most vital marine reserves.

“This initiative in Aqaba is an investment in us as young people and in the future of Jordan's green economy. We aren’t just learning to protect ecosystems—we are part of creating the solutions. From coral restoration to sustainable tourism, our voices, ideas, and leadership are shaping a resilient future for Aqaba’s coastal communities”
Farah Rinno, 2025 Y4S volunteer.

Y4S provides a framework for youth-led sustainable practices and connects young people with key partners in green development. Last year alone, Y4S ran 10 sessions on green practices, engaging over 500 young participants, with 65% being female.
