GENDER EQUALITY AND SOCIAL INCLUSION STRATEGY UNDP INDONESIA 2021-2025

May 22, 2025

*Updated version 2025*

The UNDP Indonesia's Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) Strategy for 2021-2025 is the office's second such strategy, built on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and its goal of "leaving no one behind" through gender equality. This strategy also aligns with the UNDP's Global Gender Equality Strategy 2022-2025 and follows UNDP Indonesia receiving Gold Certification for Gender Equality Seal in 2021.

The GESI Strategy commits UNDP Indonesia to tackling various forms of discrimination, including those based on poverty, location, migration, identity, ethnicity, age, religion, and disability. It's a comprehensive, organization-wide approach that aims for systemic solutions to improve efficiency and effectiveness by fostering a more gender-transformative and inclusive work environment. In 2022, adjustments were made to the strategy to incorporate the new global UNDP Gender Equality Strategy, leading to a stronger focus on programmatic interventions for structural and norm changes, system and operation recalibration to better address intersectionality, improved portfolio integration across units for multi-sectoral gender mainstreaming, increased investment in gender-transformative and sustainable recovery practices, stronger engagement with Women's Rights Organizations (WROs) and feminist movements, investment in gender monitoring and evaluation for mid-management learning.
