Climate Risk and Community Resilience in Indonesia

October 17, 2025

Climate Risk and Community Resilience in Indonesia assesses the interchange between climate change and socio-economic impact particularly in the contexts of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) and East Nusa Tenggara (NTT). This study is a collaboration between United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Indonesia, UNDP Bangkok Regional Hub, and the Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Cultural Affairs (Kemenko PMK) of the Republic of Indonesia. Employing a mixed-methods approach combining quantitative data analysis with qualitative insights gathered from local communities, stakeholders, and experts, this research unfolds the critical need to address climate change as a fundamental aspect of human security, emphasizing its direct threats to livelihoods, water resources, food security, and community resilience. At the same time, it highlights the role of local wisdom as an effective mechanism for mitigating and resolving human conflicts that may emerge from climate impact, thereby preserving the social fabric of local communities.
