The Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) is the leading global body dedicated to promoting gender equality and advancing women's rights. As a functional commission of ECOSOC, it was established in 1946 and plays a key role in advancing the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action, which marks its 30th anniversary this year.
The 69th session of CSW will focus on reviewing progress in implementing the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action and the outcomes of Beijing+5. Discussions will include an assessment of current challenges that affect the implementation of the Platform for Action and the achievement of gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls worldwide.
