The Youth Forum will address the theme of ECOSOC and the 2023 UN High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF) - “Accelerating the recovery from the coronavirus disease – COVID-19 – and the full implementation of the 2030 Agenda at all levels”. It will also review progress in the areas of Sustainable Development Goals— clean water and sanitation (SDG 6), affordable and clean energy (SDG 7), industry, innovation, and infrastructure (SDG 9), sustainable cities and communities (SDG 11), and partnerships for the goals (SDG 17).

UNDP will engage in the Forum in high-level events, ministerial meetings and side events with multiple partners to support youth centered dialogue, youth leadership and knowledge sharing.

Registration link: UN Web TVThe 2023 ECOSOC Youth Forum Africa Regional Breakout Session aims to provide young leaders with an opportunity to engage on how they can concretely contribute to and benefit from an inclusive implementation of the AfCFTA and the achievement of the SDGs. The session will in particular seek to propose practical solutions to addressing the high youth unemployment rate in Africa by promoting innovations and youth entrepreneurship, intra-Africa labour mobility, and trade. It also aims to influence policy formulation at the United Nations High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF).

Registration link: UN Web TVThis session aims to provide space for young people of the LAC region to express their recommendations, insights, and expertise on pressing needs and issues, especially those related to SDGs 6, 7, 9, 11, and 17.   It will also. showcase the youth engagement processes in preparation for the sixth meeting of the Forum of the Countries of Latin America and the Caribbean on Sustainable Development and the ECOSOC Youth Forum LAC Regional Table with the 2023 HLPF theme “Accelerating the recovery from the coronavirus disease (COVID‐19) and the full implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development at all levels".

The session will explore how youth continue to take climate action after COVID-19 and in the lead-up to COP28, including green recovery opportunities. It will discuss engaging young people in decision-making and negotiations. The importance of youth-led climate action for achieving all the SDGs will be explored, along with the critical role of partnerships in helping youth engage in climate action with development partners, country representatives, and young climate leaders.

Watch here: UN Web TV In September 2022, Youth2030, the UN Youth Strategy, completed four years of implementation across the UN system. With seven years left to reach the 2030 goals, the Youth2030 session will be a strategic moment for reflection for young people, Member States, and other stakeholders to understand how the UN system has taken the strategy forward, to learn lessons from the initial implementation experience and to make course corrections. It is also a critical moment to consider the changing external and internal contexts, adapt the Strategy and leverage opportunities to accelerate its implementation to 2030. 
Side event, What Works to Amplify the Rights and Voices of Youth in Peace Resilience Building?

Registration link: here.A new report, ‘What works to amplify the rights and voices of youth in peace and resilience building?’ aims to guide future programming in this area, and accelerate the implementation of the United Nations Youth Strategy. The event will utilize the lessons to trigger a global discussion to enhance youth engagement in peace and resilience building and advocate for increased opportunities for youth in accountability processes. UNDP will participate in the discussions during the event.

Watch here: UN Web TV This multi-stakeholder plenary session will be an opportunity to highlight and discuss key priorities and recommendations by youth, as expressed as part of the global consultation process on Youth & the SDGs, led by UN and external partners in the lead-up to the ECOSOC Youth Forum. This moderated conversation and the insights paper summarizing the consultation will be a key input to the upcoming SDG Summit, ensuring a focus on youth empowerment and leadership and young people's contribution to the 2030 Agenda and vision for the future.
