This year marks 20 years of UNDP-European Union partnership. Though the partnership was formalized on 28 June 2004, our cooperation started much earlier, in 1996 in Bosnia and Herzegovina through a joint initiative in support of refugees from the EU. The partnership has significantly evolved in these 20 years, having worked together in more than 100 countries across the globe in areas related to crisis and fragility, governance and environment. For more than twenty years, the UNDP – EU partnership has been improving people’s lives, amplifying their voices and promoting local solutions to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. UNDP is the EU's No. 1 partner on development cooperation while the EU is UNDP’s 4th largest funder. Both UNDP and the EU are committed to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and to supporting countries’ progress and investing in their efforts to end poverty, protect the planet and build prosperity for all.
