COVID-19 Global Gender Response Tracker

COVID-19 Global Gender Response Tracker

December 8, 2020

The COVID-19 Global Gender Response Tracker monitors policy measures adopted by governments to address the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic, including the 248 measures adopted across Europe and Central Asia. It highlights those measures that may be regarded as gender-sensitive, in that they seek to directly address the risks and challenges that women and girls face during the COVID-19 crisis, notably violence against women and girls, unpaid care work and economic insecurity. The tracker is coordinated by UNDP, with substantive leadership from UN Women.

Drawing on the tracker, the regional factsheet provides an overview of the 82 gender-sensitive measures adopted in Europe and Central Asia across three key dimensions: the surge in violence against women and girls, the increased burden of unpaid care work, and women’s economic insecurity due to losses in income, livelihood and jobs. It features country examples, best practices and gaps in the regional COVID-19 gender-sensitive policy response, and is available in English and Russian.
