Polish development cooperation
Background
The Polish-UNDP Partnership is a collaborative initiative between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Europe and Central Asia. Established in December 2019, the partnership aims to leverage Polish expertise to address complex development challenges in partner countries.
OBJECTIVE
To facilitate the transfer of Polish know-how and innovative solutions that tackle development challenges identified by UNDP Country Offices, contributing to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
MODALITIES
- Polish Challenge Fund (PCF): Engages Polish private sector entities, research institutes, and universities to implement innovative solutions in selected priority countries. Calls for Proposals are announced annually, inviting candidates to submit solutions applicable at the country, sub-regional, and regional levels.
- Knowledge Management: Throughout the project duration, PUP specialists collect, validate, document and provide know-how, best practices, lessons learned, and other important information produced during project initiatives.
IMPACT
Project Implementation: As of 2024, six Calls for Proposals have been conducted, resulting in 41 solutions awarded with a total value of $2,446,863 USD, including $1,608,573 USD in awards and $838,290 USD in mobilized co-financing. These initiatives span areas like green technologies, health, and smart city solutions.
