Addressing Misinformation and Disinformation in Egypt: Training Manuals for Youth and Media Professionals

September 6, 2026

These five training manuals were developed by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Egypt as part of the “Addressing Misinformation and Disinformation in Egypt” initiative, implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Institute of National Planning.

Designed for young people and media professionals, the manuals provide practical guidance to help users identify, verify and respond responsibly to misinformation and disinformation. They cover critical thinking, media and digital literacy, factchecking and source verification, digital citizenship, online safety, and the ethical and legal dimensions of sharing information. They also address emerging challenges related to artificial intelligence-generated content and the psychological and social factors that influence the spread of misinformation and disinformation.

To ensure accessibility and wider use, three manuals for young people are available in English, Modern Standard Arabic and Egyptian colloquial Arabic, while two manuals for media professionals are available in English and Arabic. Together, they provide an enduring knowledge resource that supports continued learning, the transfer of practical skills and responsible participation in an increasingly complex digital information environment.
