Cairo, Egypt.

June 15, 2026

Cairo, Egypt, 15 June 2026 – The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Egypt, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Egypt, the Embassy of Egypt in Copenhagen, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, and the Embassy of Denmark in Cairo convened at the Annual Advisory Group Meeting of the Danish-Egyptian Dialogue Initiative (DEDI) to review progress achieved during 2025–2026 and endorse priorities for the coming period.

The meeting brought together H.E. Ambassador Lars Bo Moeller, Ambassador of Denmark to Egypt and Chair of the DEDI Advisory Group; H.E. Ambassador Mohamed Mounir Loutfy, Ambassador of Egypt to Denmark; Counselor Karim Ismail, Deputy Director-General of the Cairo International Center for Conflict Resolution, Peacekeeping and Peacebuilding (CCCPA); and Ms. Chitose Noguchi, UNDP Egypt Resident Representative, alongside strategic partners and stakeholders to discuss DEDI’s role as a platform for youth innovation, the green transition, and dialogue between Egypt and Denmark.

As part of the Danish-Arab Partnership Programme (DAPP) and hosted and implemented by UNDP Egypt, DEDI entered a new phase in 2025 focused on supporting youth innovation and climate action through three components: Innovation in Sustainable Design, Green Environmental Literacy for Youth, and Youth Dialogue on Climate, Peace, and Security.

Over the past year, DEDI has operationalized its identity and approach as an innovation lab, creating physical and digital spaces where Egyptian and Danish youth, innovators, experts, and institutions can collaborate, exchange knowledge, and co-create solutions to sustainability and climate-related challenges. Furthermore, DEDI has strengthened its partnerships – with organizations, ministries, academia and innovation networks – in both Egypt and Denmark, and launched youth challenges and activities under its three components.

Through DEDI, UNDP is investing in youth not only as participants in development, but as innovators, partners and drivers of solutions to climate and sustainability challenges. By creating spaces for dialogue, experimentation and cross-cultural collaboration between Egypt and Denmark, DEDI reflects UNDP’s commitment to advancing an inclusive green transition. As a living lab for youth innovation and the green transition, DEDI also serves as a space for dialogue on climate, peace and security between the two countries.

Looking ahead, DEDI will continue strengthening bilateral dialogue, delivering youth ideation and incubation activities in 12 governorates, hosting innovators in Cairo and Copenhagen through tailored innovation exchanges, advancing youth climate storytelling, and positioning youth voices within regional climate dialogue fora.

About DEDI: The Danish-Egyptian Dialogue Initiative (DEDI) (2025-2028), implemented by UNDP Egypt in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, is a living lab for youth-driven innovation and the green transition, designed to address the challenges and opportunities of the future, and a cross-cultural space for dialogue on climate, peace and security between Denmark and Egypt.
