UNDP in Djibouti
UNDP supports Djibouti since 1979 in his own solutions to development challenges and building capacities that will help them achieve Sustainable Development Goals.
UNDP's mandate is to end poverty, build democratic governance, rule of law, and inclusive institutions. We advocate for change, and connect countries to knowledge, experience, and resources to help people build a better life.

As the United Nations lead agency on international development, UNDP works in about 170 countries and territories, helping to achieve the eradication of poverty, and the reduction of inequalities and exclusion. We help countries to develop policies, leadership skills, partnering abilities, institutional capabilities and build resilience to sustain development results in the three development settings:
- Eradicate poverty in all its forms
- Accelerating structural transformations
- Building resilience to crises
In all our activities, we encourage the protection of human rights and promote the active participation of women.
Cooperation Framework between the Republic of Djibouti and UNDP 2025-2030
The new UNDP Djibouti country programme (2025-2030), developed under the UNSDCF framework, focuses on addressing the country’s pressing challenges, including limited economic diversification, significant climate vulnerability, and high poverty and youth unemployment rates.
The programme aims to build on "Djibouti Vision 2035" by promoting economic diversification, inclusive governance, climate resilience, and social cohesion.
Special attention is given to empowering women, youth, and marginalized communities through strategic partnerships, policy reforms, and capacity-building initiatives.
This holistic approach seeks to improve governance, promote regional integration, and foster a resilient, sustainable development pathway for all.
UNDP’s efforts emphasize transforming key economic sectors, enhancing human capital development, and integrating climate action with sustainable livelihoods. Building social trust and stability through good governance mechanisms remains a central pillar of this vision.
