Historical background information  

According to written sources, the mosque was built in the early 20th century, most probably around 1906. In 1908 repairs took place in the mosque and at the school building to the north of the mosque.  

It is a rectangular building with pitched roof. In the courtyard of the mosque there is a fountain, built during the British period.   

Main interventions for this site include:

  • Cleaning of surfaces and organic growth
  • Removal of incompatible plaster
  • Grouting, repointing and consolidation of masonry
  • Replastering and waterproofing
  • Internal floor maintenance
  • Timber and metal elements conservation
  • Replacement of internal ceiling
