Description of investment	Under this project, 24 items of laboratory equipment were purchased as well as a pneumatic carrier system. Amongst the 24 items, the major items were: Inductively coupled plasma - optical emission spectroscopy Biosafety cabinets Class 2 Automated microorganism identification instrument Liquid Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry Automated DNA/RNA extraction system Real Time PCR (qPCR) Microscopes Acid- fast bacteria staining device Freezers Pneumatic carrier system for samples
Intended beneficiary	Direct beneficiaries: Health organisations in the Turkish Cypriot community Indirect beneficiaries: the whole Turkish Cypriot community
Scope of works	With the outbreak of the COVID pandemic, the heath facilities in the Turkish Cypriot community showed limitation in their capacities to respond to global pandemics. As a result, support was allocated to increase their preparedness to potential future pandemics.
