The boundaries of the project are limited to an area within the UN Buffer Zone.

Scope of works

Traffic at the Agios Dometios/Metahan crossing has been increasing in recent years. It has now reached its maximum capacity. The result is that vehicle queues are very long and crossing time can sometimes exceed 2 hours, especially during the weekends.

Actions taken by UNDP

1. Preparation of the designs
   The preparation of the Terms of Reference for the design services was completed in mid-February 2025. The procurement for the design services will be launched at the beginning of March. It is expected that the contract will be signed in April and with the designs being finalised in June 2025.

2. Procurement of works
   ITB expected to be launched in June 2025
   Procurement process expected to be completed by July 2025.
3. Implementation
   Expected contract signature: Beginning of August 2025
   Expected completion of works: October 2025
