The UNDP "Youth Employment" project, in close cooperation with the “Aren Mehrabyan” foundation, has successfully launched a four-month training course on front-end and back-end programming aimed at enhancing the digital skills of young people with a focus on refugees from Nagorno-Karabakh. This initiative is designed to help young individuals acquire advanced digital skills to enhance their employability in a rapidly evolving tech landscape. The course is delivered in a blended format, combining both online and offline sessions for greater flexibility and engagement.

Fifty-four participants, all of whom possess web programming basic knowledge, now are excited to take their expertise to the next level. The course will equip them with knowledge in web design, web content development, client-side and server-side scripting, and network security configuration.

In the modern world of web programming, technologies such as front-end and back-end programming are in high demand. These powerful tools enable developers to build robust and scalable applications, which are highly applicable worldwide. The course will provide participants with hands-on experience and the technical proficiency needed to excel in the competitive field of software development.

Satik Nairyan, Deputy Director of the “Aren Mehrabyan” foundation, expressed her optimism about the initiative: “This course takes participants to the next level in programming. With new skills in both front-end and back-end development, these young people will be well-prepared for jobs as junior developers. This training opens up many opportunities for them, whether they choose to work for a company or start their own business.”

To ensure the ongoing success of the training course, the Foundation has established local networks and knowledge-sharing platforms to encourage participants to connect and collaborate even after the course ends. The initiative also offers job placement support, including practical sessions on resume writing and interview preparation, to help participants transition smoothly into the workforce.

This program is part of the larger UNDP “Youth Employment” Project, which aims to address the skills mismatch in Armenia's regional labor markets. By helping young people to develop IT skills and acquire modern knowledge, the project provides them the tools to succeed in the tech industry and build lasting careers.
