Today, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Armenia marked a significant milestone, celebrating the 30th anniversary of its presence in the country. 

H.E. Mr. Vahagn Khachaturyan, President of the Republic of Armenia, has been invited as Guest of Honor and he delivered a keynote address. He underscored the importance of the collaboration between UNDP and the state institutions of Armenia, and the shared commitment to continuing this work in support of the country’s development priorities.

The occasion offered an opportunity to reflect on three decades of close partnership between UNDP and the Government of Armenia - years marked by joint efforts to advance sustainable development, democratic transition, and inclusive economic growth.

“Our results endure due to our partnership rooted in trust, shared values, and strong national ownership. The Government of Armenia has shown consistent leadership in strengthening democratic institutions, advancing social inclusion, and accelerating climate action. UNDP is proud to have stood alongside Armenia throughout each chapter of this journey,” said Ms. Natia Natsvlishvili, UNDP Resident Representative in Armenia. 

She extended her deepest appreciation to the Government of Armenia, partners, civil society, and the dedicated UNDP team — past and present, and reiterated that UNDP remains fully committed to standing with the Armenian people to go the extra mile, as we have done for the past three decades. 

Guests looked back on UNDP’s achievements through a commemorative film showcasing its impact across different sectors.

The event served not only as a celebration of past accomplishments but also as a moment to reaffirm UNDP’s readiness to support Armenia’s future aspirations. Through decades of partnership, UNDP has worked alongside national counterparts to bring about meaningful, lasting change—an effort that remains central to its mission in Armenia.

The anniversary event brought together members of the Government of Armenia, the diplomatic corps, the UN Country Team, and various national and international partners.
