Navigating The Transition: Sustainability Practices in Albanian Businesses

January 28, 2026

This report examines how businesses in Albania are responding to growing sustainability expectations and regulatory requirements, and how far environmental and social practices are being integrated into everyday operations. Based on Key Informant Interviews, it explores company actions related to energy and resource efficiency, waste management, supply chains, and product quality, as well as awareness of sustainability standards and reporting obligations.

The findings show that while many firms have adopted practical cost-saving measures, more strategic sustainability investments remain limited, especially among small and medium enterprises facing financial and technical constraints. The report highlights key gaps in information, incentives, and support services, while also identifying opportunities for businesses to strengthen competitiveness through greener practices and partnerships. By mapping both progress and challenges, the study provides evidence to inform policies and private sector support aimed at accelerating Albania’s transition toward more sustainable and responsible business models.
