Local Adaptation Plans
Local Adaptation Plans
February 2, 2026
In May 2024, eight municipalities completed their Local Adaptation Plans (LAPs), six of which have been formally adopted. Between 2022 and 2024, 570 stakeholders, including 293 women, contributed through workshops, consultations, and validation meetings. The LAPs prioritize 314 actions across five key sectors, combining infrastructure projects and soft measures, including 48 nature-based solutions. These interventions aim to strengthen institutional frameworks, build technical capacity, climate-proof infrastructure, restore degraded lands, promote reforestation, rehabilitate river embankments, and improve irrigation systems. The process culminated in a National Conference launching the LAPs, promoting municipal adoption, and fostering collaboration among local, national, and international stakeholders to advance effective climate change adaptation.
