This report presents a practical training curriculum designed to support micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in Albania’s agri-food processing sector to integrate sustainability into their business operations. It provides a structured, step-by-step framework that links sustainability principles with improved profitability, competitiveness, and compliance with EU environmental and market requirements.
The curriculum combines conceptual foundations with applied tools, sector-specific guidance, and international and local case studies, covering key areas such as resource efficiency, renewable energy, circular economy practices, waste valorization, certification, and sustainability planning. Developed within the UNDP Growing Your Business (GYB) methodology, it equips MSMEs, consultants, and business support institutions with practical instruments to assess sustainability performance, identify opportunities, and design realistic action plans aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Albania’s EU integration pathway.
This publication is produced under the UN Joint Project “Business Partnerships and Solutions for SDGs”, funded by the Government of Sweden and implemented by UNDP (lead), FAO, ILO, and UNIDO.
