Business planning for the Llogara National Park

The management of many protected areas in Albania is not effective, suffering particularly from inadequate financial resources and limited management capacity. The effective management of Albanian Protected Areas thus requires looking for additional funding sources. Therefore, UNDP Albania commissioned a study aiming to define the financial strategy and business plan for the management of the Llogara National Park, focused on:

1. Providing an overall economic picture of the area’s characteristics, allowing performing diagnostic analysis of the present situation;
2. Weighting basic elements of analysis which will determine the priority actions that enable the business management of this target area;
3. Propose financing mechanisms to develop in order to reduce the existing financing gap.

These three objectives supported the drafting of the business plan for the LNP and the presentation of the financial strategy for the next 5 years.
