Human security takes a comprehensive human-centric approach where the individual, and their needs at various levels of personal, political, economic, food, health, environment, and community are the guiding factors of development and peace. This report attempts to capture the status of the human security situation in its seven dimensions, in the two municipalities of Western Nepal – Barekot Rurual Municipality and Nalgad Municpality.
The analysis reveals certain gaps in knowledge and practices for which the necessary, innovative, timely and locally owned solutions are also provided. With increased awareness of the local communities about the various dimensions of human security and its importance in developmental and resilience programmes, initiatives to strengthen climate resilience within the community will be more comprehensive, sustainable, and inclusive.
