UNDP has partnered with the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis, and Malaria in Zimbabwe since 2009. During Grant Cycle 7 (GC7) Year 2 (2025), UNDP continued to serve as Principal Recipient (PR) for the HIV grant and Fund Administrator (FA) for the TB and Malaria grants, with the Ministry of Health and Child Care serving as PR for these two grants over the 2024–2026 period.

Despite Zimbabwe's HIV prevalence remaining among the highest in the world at 10.49%, the epidemic continues to recede: AIDS-related deaths fell from 23,970 in 2019 to 17,100 in 2024. By the end of 2025, 94.95% (1,230,298 of 1,295,675) of adults and children living with HIV were receiving antiretroviral therapy, with adult ART coverage reaching 97.37%, close to the national target.

The cumulative expenditure for the grant as at 31 December 2025 was USD 157,887,561 against an approved budget of USD 181,752,645, representing a 107% absorption rate. UNDP continued to facilitate disbursements to the MOHCC and supported health and non-health procurements across the programme. This annual report captures the results of UNDP and Global Fund programmatic interventions in Zimbabwe in 2025.
