A Strong Start in Adana: Inclusive Transformation in Seasonal Agriculture
April 25, 2025

16 April, Adana – The first workshop of the EU-funded project aiming to strengthen seasonal agricultural capacities in rural areas was held on April 9–10 in Adana . Implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry and coordinated by Türk Kızılay, the project targets a comprehensive transformation across seven provinces where seasonal agricultural labor is concentrated.
More than just a launch event, the Adana workshop marked a significant milestone in the journey towards inclusive local development. With its central location among the target provinces and its symbolic role at the heart of seasonal agricultural production, Adana offered the perfect setting for a strategic and collaborative beginning.
Over the course of two days:
- Province-specific needs and priorities were thoroughly assessed,
- Stakeholder roles were clarified through focused discussions,
- Collectively developed strategies laid the foundation for practical and sustainable action.
The workshop brought together representatives from the Presidency of Strategy and Budget, the Directorate General of Migration Management, the General Directorate of Labour, the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, UNDP Türkiye, Türk Kızılay, and local project and outreach teams from all seven provinces.
Participants agreed that improving the living and working conditions of seasonal agricultural workers should go beyond economic outcomes, integrating principles of social inclusion, gender equality, and decent work.
This meaningful gathering in Adana laid a strong foundation for province-specific implementation and reinforced the commitment to inclusive rural development.
