Ali Rıza Durgun participated in the training of trainers of I Can Manage My Money Project which has been carried out since 2009 with the partnership of UNDP, Habitat Association and Visa Turkey, aiming individuals to have a healthier financial future. He led to many positive changes first in his life and later in his village.
Ali Rıza, who has voluntarily disseminated the training he received under the I Can Manage My Money Project in his village said: “For us farming is a family tradition and you are actually your boss in this profession. For this reason, it is very important that you can manage your money well as you cultivate your land. The trainings given to us aim to raise financial awareness among farmers.”
Ali Rıza mentioned he has always wanted to be involved in social responsibility projects and beneficial to people:
“I Can Manage My Money Project gave me the opportunity to realize this wish of mine. When I first heard that there was such a project for farmers, the word “farmer” was enough for me to be involved in it. After the trainings I received, I first applied what I learned to my own life.
After noticing the positive changes in my life, I wanted to share what I have learned with other farmers in my village too. Our farmers used to take out loans from the bank and these loans made their lives very difficult. I organized trainings to prevent these and create a financial awareness among them. It feels very nice that I can be useful to them.”
I Can Manage My Money Project continues to develop financial awareness among individuals in 81 provinces of Turkey.
