The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Surat Thani Rajabhat University (SRU) have collaborated to tackle pressing waste management challenges in Surat Thani Province, Thailand through an initiative “Innovative Solutions for Waste Bank Development in Surat Thani”.

The project aimed to establish a circular economy society within SRU. Guided by human-centered design principles, it emphasized efficient waste sorting, recycling practices, and the transformation of organic waste. This initiative not only had a significant impact on the local community but also served as a global model for sustainable waste management. The project achieved notable milestones, including the promotion of waste banks, sustainable practices, and the creation of new income sources.

Aligned with UNDP's mission of sustainable development, poverty reduction, gender equality promotion, and climate change mitigation, this project stands as a remarkable achievement. Through collaborative efforts and innovative solutions, this project lays the foundation for a sustainable future for communities, the environment, and partnerships striving for shared goals.
