Background and Development Challenges

UNDP Thailand works with both demand and supply sides to promote economic empowerment for persons with disabilities. With the support from Citi Foundation, UNDP addressed the demand side by organizing a series of trainings on necessary skills for youth with disabilities, i.e. digital, social and communication, and financial literacy, in order to prepare them for the job market. At the same time, UNDP provided the private sector as the supply side with technical support on disability-related knowledge and good practices sharing on creating an inclusive workplace, with the aim to encourage more companies to open opportunities for paid internship and employment for youth with disabilities. These two areas of work correspond with UNDP Thailand’s Country Programme Document 2022-2026.

Objectives

To provide skill enhancement opportunities of youth with disabilities, raise awareness of private sector employers on employment of persons with disabilities and open more job opportunities for youth with disabilities.
