The event will be hosted at Taumeasina Island Resort, located on a private island connected to the mainland by a causeway, in Apia.
The Pacific region faces an accelerating convergence of risks — climate change, economic vulnerability, outmigration, geopolitical pressure, and weakening public trust — that are testing the resilience of its societies and institutions. In response, UNDP's Multi-Country Office (MCO) in Samoa has launched an initiative to strengthen governance for resilience across the Cook Islands, Niue, Samoa, and Tokelau (the four Pacific Island Countries and Territories, or PICTs, that are part of our MCO).
As part of this initiative, a series of governance diagnostics was conducted across the four PICTs in 2025, resulting in four country-level Policy Briefs (Navigating Uncertainty: Opportunities for Making Governance Fit for Resilience). These briefs provide the analytical foundation for the Policy Dialogue on Governance for Resilient Futures, to be held in Apia, Samoa, from 14 to 17 July 2026, a joint event organized in partnership with the Government of Samoa through the Public Service Commission.
As this journey, which began with meaningful pre-event activities, unfolds into a week of learning, collaboration, and shared experiences, we hope you will embrace every opportunity to connect, exchange ideas, and build lasting partnerships.
