Multi-year partnership between UNDP and the Netherlands
RULE OF LAW, HUMAN RIGHTS AND JUSTICE FOR PEACE, SECURITY AND DEVELOPMENT
In 2026, building on decades of collaboration, UNDP and the Netherlands launched a new multi-year centralized partnership to advance rule of law, human rights and justice for peace, security and development.
In 16 countries across the Sahel, West Africa, the Horn of Africa, North Africa and the Middle East, UNDP will work with national partners to improve security, strengthen institutions, bring justice within reach and support violence survivors. As co-leads of the partnership, Dutch Embassies in each context will provide strategic guidance, share local expertise and facilitate policy coherence.
Delivered through UNDP's Global Programme on Rule of Law, Human Rights and Justice for Peace, Security and Development, the investment will run from August 2026 to the end of 2030 in Algeria, Benin, Burkina Faso, Chad, Côte d'Ivoire, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Lebanon, Mali, Niger, State of Palestine, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia and Yemen.
The partnership is rooted in a shared conviction: where people can settle disputes peacefully, hold institutions to account, exercise their rights and feel safe where they live, lasting peace and development will take hold.
