After years of growing his small business, Filip Nakov has become a true example of perseverance, promoting the values of equality, hard work, and the courage to overcome discrimination.
From Support to Success: A Young Entrepreneur Redefining Possibility
December 2, 2025
Filip Nakov is a young entrepreneur from Skopje who has been successfully managing his own firm since 2021. His journey began a few months earlier that year, when he received essential financial support through the Self-Employment Programme—a grant that helped turn his business idea into reality.
“I have worked in the field of advertising before, but never have I thought that I would have my own company. The Programme was a real fit for me, providing me a push to start and formalize my working arrangements,” – Filip explains.
What started as a small initiative has now grown into a dynamic business built on quality, trust, and innovation. Today, the rebranded firm Nakora collaborates with more than 10 part-time IT and marketing professionals from around the world, delivering services to both regional and international clients from various industries.
Filip’s story is especially remarkable not just because of the business he built, but because of the barriers he broke along the way. As a person with disabilities, stepping into entrepreneurship meant facing double the challenges—physical, social, and systemic. Yet instead of letting obstacles define him, Filip chose to define his own future.
“My professional skills are not limited by the disability I face,” he says confidently.
Nakora plans to grow further “My goal is to expand further in the United States and Europe and help AI, Dev and Data software companies get more customers and scale. We focus on practical growth strategies (including SEO and ABM) and hands-on support that make it easier for these companies to reach developers and grow their business.”
The digital world we all live in is a powerful equalizer—one that gives people with disabilities new space to achieve their dreams. Online, talent speaks louder than limitations, and innovation opens doors that physical barriers once kept shut. In this evolving landscape, ability is measured not by physical capacity but by creativity, dedication, and the courage to envision something greater. “Remote work, adaptive technologies, and AI-driven tools allow entrepreneurs like me and millions of others to build, compete, and lead on a global stage without being defined by traditional constraints,” – Filip says.
Every day, he demonstrates that determination, creativity, and courage can open doors that once seemed closed. His journey shows that with the right support, a strong vision, and belief in oneself, anyone can build a meaningful, sustainable career.
He stands as proof that limitations do not diminish potential—they simply shape a different path to success.
The Self-Employment Programme for persons with disabilities, initiated in 2016 by UNDP in partnership with national institutions, has supported more than 300 unemployed persons with disabilities to start their own small businesses. Through financial assistance, coaching, and ongoing mentorship, the Programme has helped transform individual ideas into sustainable sources of income and independence.
In addition, around 380 participants received tailored entrepreneurship and employability training, designed to strengthen their skills, boost confidence, and open new opportunities in the labor market. This customized support ensures that each participant receives the knowledge, tools, and guidance they need to build a career path that matches their abilities, aspirations, and talents.
