The programme was launched by the Global Soil Partnership and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), with the aim of strengthening capacities to characterize and assess soil health.
The second in-person session of this training cycle took place at the National University of the Littoral campus in Zavalla, Santa Fe. Twenty farmers, professionals and technical advisors participated in the session, working on different soil conditions, including pastures, agricultural fields and pristine soils.

During the training, participants developed criteria and tools for characterizing and assessing soil health. The objective is to strengthen their knowledge and diagnostic capacities so that they can subsequently replicate and share the methodologies acquired with farmers, colleagues and students, acting as programme multipliers.
The training was led by Dr. Guillermo Peralta, technical advisor to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), who presented a range of tools and materials for future training sessions. These resources were designed to facilitate knowledge transfer and provide farmers with methodologies to assess soil as a living and evolving system.
