The 2025 Gambia National Human Development Report, Expanding Opportunities for the Dynamic Youth of The Gambia: A Call to Action, examines how the country can harness the potential of its growing youth population as a powerful driver of inclusive and sustainable human development.

The report explores the opportunities and challenges facing young Gambians, with particular attention to education and skills development, employment and entrepreneurship, regional and gender disparities, and the alignment of skills with evolving labour market needs. It highlights the importance of creating pathways that enable young people to develop their capabilities, access decent and productive employment, and participate meaningfully in the country’s socio-economic transformation.

Drawing on evidence and analysis, the report identifies priority areas for action, including strengthening education and skills development, expanding sustainable employment opportunities, investing in high-potential sectors, promoting entrepreneurship and innovation, addressing inequalities, and strengthening the participation of young people in national development.
