In 2019, the African Union Commission (AUC) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) partnered in a joint vision to advance gender equality and women's empowerment in Africa. This collaboration led to the creation of the African Young Women Leaders (AfYWL) Fellowship Programme, which has since been dedicated to nurturing the potential of young African women leaders.
